It All Started With a Simple Late-Night Message
In late 2024, I received a message from my college friend Chris just after midnight. Chris was studying at Rice University — the same university where the famous Rice Purity Test first began in 1924. His text was short but memorable:
“Everyone here talks about the Rice Purity Test nonstop. Someone really needs to make a better website for it.”
As a web developer, I instantly understood what he meant. When I searched online, most versions of the test felt outdated, overloaded with ads, slow to use, and difficult to trust. None of them offered the kind of clean, comfortable experience people expect when sharing something personal. So that same night, I opened my laptop and started building a better version.
From a Small Idea to a Growing Community
What started as a simple weekend project quickly became something much bigger. Chris shared the real student perspective — how freshmen use the test during Orientation Week, why it became such a popular tradition, and what students actually wanted from the experience. I focused on the technical side: clean design, fast performance, mobile-friendly layouts, and a smooth user experience.
Our goal was simple: create a Rice Purity Test website people could genuinely trust.
Today, Rice Purity Test Lab is visited daily by students, teens, and curious users from across the United States and beyond. What began as one late-night conversation has grown into a platform we are incredibly proud of, featuring one of the most updated versions available in 2026.

We believe the Rice Purity Test is more than just a score. Behind every result is a real person — a college freshman meeting new friends, a group comparing experiences for fun, or someone reflecting on their personal journey.

Who We Are
Rice Purity Test Lab is an independent project and has no official connection with Rice University. We simply admire the long-standing tradition the university introduced and wanted to create a modern platform worthy of that legacy.
I manage the development, design, and maintenance of the website, while Chris helps ensure the platform stays connected to the real student experience and culture surrounding the test.
We may be a small team, but we care deeply about quality. Every update and improvement is made with our community in mind.
